Meditation

I am certified and teach yogic meditation. Yoga is the foundation, the union from which and within all reality unfolds (often depicted by the lotus flower). Yoga is a state, a set of techniques, and a way of life. The Bhagavad Gita describes yoga as the journey of the self.

The benefits of learning a daily meditation practice are widely talked about. More focus, better sleep, less anxiety, better sex drive, more compassion for self and others, the list continues...

Meditation, like therapy, is not a one-size-fits-all; therefore, I teach a foundation course in meditation and provide group and individual support and coaching to support your growth using these techniques and tools. Briefly, I cover the following topics over 12 sessions:

  1. Establishing a practice

  2. Interrupted attention and overcoming mind-wandering

  3. Extended attention and overcoming forgetting

  4. Continuous attention and overcoming gross distraction and strong dullness

  5. Overcoming subtle dullness and increasing mindfulness

  6. Overcoming Subtle Distraction

  7. Exclusive attention and unifying the mind

  8. Mental pliancy and pacifying the senses

  9. Mental and physical pliancy and calming the intensity of meditative joy

  10. Tranquility and equanimity

  11. Practice session Q & A

  12. Practice session Q & A
